Gardening Club for home educating families and under 5s

  • Within the Walls Garden Project 9 B651 Whitwell Hitchin United Kingdom (map)

We're back at Within the Walls Garden Project for another fun session for home educating families and children under 5.

These fortnightly sessions offer children the opportunity to experience the changing seasons through practical gardening, science exploration and creative activities in a beautiful working garden setting.

Our late summer / early autumn seasons will be a mixture of bed prepping, collecting seeds, looking after wildlife and getting involved in some nature crafts.

Every session includes real gardening tasks appropriate to the season. Children will:

  • Sow, plant and grow their own crops

  • Learn how soil works and why it matters

  • Explore composting and sustainability

  • Observe insects and pollinators

  • Harvest and taste produce (when in season!)

This is not a classroom-style lesson — it’s active, muddy, practical learning in a real garden.

Mixed age friendly

These sessions are designed specifically for home educating families with a range of ages. Activities are adaptable, collaborative and supportive, making it ideal for everyone to learn together.
