Learn to Compost: Family-Friendly Autumn Workshops in Luton & Hitchin

Healthy gardens start with healthy soil—and healthy soil starts with compost.

This autumn, join me for one of three hands-on composting workshops where you'll learn simple, practical ways to recycle your food and garden waste into nutrient-rich compost. Whether you're dreaming of growing your own vegetables, improving your garden, or simply reducing household waste, this workshop will give you the confidence to get started.

Perfect for beginners, families and anyone curious about composting, we'll explore a range of composting methods and discover why autumn is the perfect season to build healthy soil for next year's growing season.

What you'll learn

During this interactive workshop we'll cover:

  • Traditional composting – Learn how to balance greens and browns, choose the right compost bin and avoid common mistakes.

  • Pit composting & chop and drop – Two simple techniques that feed your soil directly with very little effort.

  • Worm farming (vermiculture) – Discover how to set up a worm farm, care for your worms and harvest nutrient-rich worm castings.

  • Bokashi composting – Learn how to ferment kitchen waste indoors, making it ideal for small gardens, patios and even apartments.

  • Live no-dig demonstration – I'll show you how to build a nutrient-rich no-dig bed step by step using autumn materials.

By the end of the session you'll understand which composting method is right for you and leave with plenty of practical tips to put into action at home.
